Two important reasons why you should quit social media.
No doubt social media is a great platform to connect with people, improve your business, and much more.
I admit this is one of the beautiful thing created by humans in the 21st century but being active in social media unless you are benefiting from it is like getting addicted to a drug.
Here is why you should stop using these apps
1. You feed “junk food” to your mind.
Like how we feed food to our stomach daily, we feed our mind. We need to feed information to our minds about what is necessary and useful. Always use Socrates' triple filter test, while reading or listening to something. Always ask the following questions before talking or listening to something
- Regarding the truth: Do I know for a fact that this information is true?
- Regarding the good: Does it benefit me or the other person?
- Regarding the necessary or useful: By knowing this message, will that person’s life or my life improve?
“Junk” damages the power of concentration. Concentration is a very important thing people need for their development in their careers. The exact reason to lose concentration is our mind gets disturbed when we see other stuff. It's human nature to agitate to the things of people we know. This causes our calm mind to disturb. Remember the mind is like calm water, always try not to get disturbed.
2. You become prey to others' ideologies.
Citizens is the prey in the game of politics. They play politics using people's sentiments. They create a certain following on that sentiment and make them their trap. People in that trap cannot see the actual thing happening outside.
Following certain political bodies in social media, is much like listening to a one-sided argument and coming to a conclusion. This creates hatred in society, which slowly eats up the nation. We see political riots every now and then.
Conclusion
So use your own intelligence, think twice before following someone or liking something on social media because everyone's likes and dislikes are watched by someone!.
