There are more than 200 crore people using WhatsApp. It is the most used app on this planet. Unlike social media, WhatsApp is used to connect with the people you know. But when it comes to WhatsApp forwards, we hear a lot of nonsense messages and fake news.
Problem
In this information age, there is more information and less clarity.
As they say,
Beware of false knowledge it is more dangerous than ignorance
We need to know what we are feeding to our minds is factual.
Every social media platform has a content moderation council and they keep removing hate speech and false news. In WhatsApp due to end-to-end encryption that is not possible for WhatsApp to read our messages and do moderation.
Not all WhatsApp forward is fake. Just the speed (lie) > speed (truth), we even hear good and legit news in WhatsApp too.
A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its boots on.

Points.
- It supports only text and image forwards no video as of now.
- Users are kept completely anonymous with random and funny 😝 names.
- Messages cannot be deleted.
System Design
Explaination.
- When somebody sends a text or image message, the message is hashed using md5 hashing algorithm.
- In database, forwards are grouped using hash value.
- After creating hash, a unique route is created pointing front-end.
- All the messages having the matching hash are fetched and display in the front-end.
